A Year of AnniversariesAs many of you know, Adamantine Arts used to be called The Art Attack. The organization started off as a simple website in 1997. 2007 is a year of anniversaries and an exciting time for the organization. Ten years ago this coming June was the first time "The Art Attack" was used in reference to the organization. Then it was a mere gallery for my personal work and quickly expanded to an online showcase for other artists as well. Five years ago as of May 1st, The Art Attack launched the site that is currently located at http://artattack.to which grew into one of the best online art communities on the web. Four years ago, we started the quest to do more "offline" charitable work such as mentoring programs, etc. 2 years ago we incorporated The Art Attack as a non-profit organization and just a few weeks ago, we were awarded with tax exempt status through the federal government!
In the mean time, we changed the name to Adamantine Arts to deal with some local (Twin Cities) naming conflicts. It seems that everyone thought "The Art Attack" was a clever name. So now, the name is different, but the ideals of the organization still remain the same. We're still focused on supporting artists. We're still strengthening the worldwide arts community. We're just more organized and have the foundation of the non profit to make all the things we want to do happen! Exciting times, indeed!
The Future of the Online CommunityKeeping with our roots, the new Adamantine Arts site will offer all the same things you are accustomed to from the old Art Attack site. The new site will organically grow to be one of the best tools for artists out there. There are few, if any, online communities that are really truly focused on supporting artists. We aim to continue to fill this need and exceed exceptions of artists.
Along with the new name, the website is getting a fresh start as well. All members of the old Art Attack site, are welcomed and encouraged to join the new Adamantine Arts site. Some aspects of the new site will seem familiar (Forums, Galleries, etc). Other aspects, such as the social networking tools and custom galleries, will be new. You are encouraged to snoop around and see what all is available to you.
I hope you to see you around the new site!
Blaine
